Need help with Kaya?
We're here. Most questions are answered below — if not, just email us.
Getting started
How do I create a group?
Tap the + button on the Groups tab, give your group a name, pick a category, and hit Create. Share the invite link with your barkada.
How do I join a group?
Tap a shared invite link — it'll open Kaya and drop you straight into the group. Or tap + on the Groups tab and enter an invite code manually.
Do I need an account?
Yes, but it takes under a minute. Sign in with Google, Apple, or your email — no forms to fill out beyond your name.
Expenses
How do I add an expense?
Open a group, tap +, fill in the description, amount, who paid, and how to split it. Tap Add expense. Done.
Can I split unevenly?
Yes. By default Kaya splits equally, but you can tap into each person's amount and enter a custom split.
Can I attach a receipt?
Yes — tap the receipt icon when adding an expense to attach a photo from your camera roll.
Can I edit an expense after adding it?
You can delete an expense and re-add it. Full editing is coming in a future update.
Balances & settling
How does Kaya calculate who owes what?
Every debt is direct and traceable — if you owe Marco for gas, it shows as a debt to Marco specifically. No debt minimization or mystery settlements.
How do I settle up?
Go to the Balances tab, find the person you owe, and tap Settle now. You can add a note and attach a payment screenshot as proof.
Does Kaya process payments?
No. Kaya is a ledger, not a payments app. Pay however your group pays — then mark it settled in Kaya.
Account
How do I delete my account?
Go to Profile → scroll to the bottom → Delete account. This permanently removes your data. Groups you created will be deleted. Your name will show as "Deleted User" in existing expense history.
Is my data private?
Your expenses and balances are only visible to members of your groups. We don't sell your data or show ads.
Why is everything in Philippine Peso?
Kaya is built specifically for the Filipino barkada. PHP-only keeps things simple and unambiguous.
Is there an Android version?
Not yet — iOS only for now. Android is on the roadmap.
